{a noble career}

{there is no nobler career than that of motherhood at it's best. there are no possibilities greater, and in no other sphere does failure bring more serious penalties. with what diligence then should she prepare herself for such a task. if the mechanic who is to work with "things" must study at technical school, if the doctor into whose skilled hands will be entrusted human lives, must go through medical school...how much more should the mother who is fashioning the souls of the men and women of tomorrow, learn at the highest of all schools and from the Master-Sculptor Himself, God. to attempt this task, unprepared and untrained is tragic, and it's results affect generations to come. on the other hand there is not higher height to which humanity can attain than that occupied by a converted, heaven-inspired, praying mother.}{anonymous}

i was sharing recently with a friend, how i have been struggling recently as a mom. i feel like i have been daily failing my precious daughter, delaney. i more often then not choose my own selfishness over what is best for my child. often, instead of dealing with the heart issuse and choosing the course of righteousness, i remain in my laziness and sit her in front of cinderella. when i do choose to spend time training her, i speak to her about her choices being foolish and harmful. recently, i've realized that i need to recognize that by choosing to mother the way i have been, i am making choices that are {foolish and harmful}. when i stop and think about the heaviness that is involved in being a mother, it catches my breath. these are {eternal} souls that i am fashioning.

i started going through the notes from a motherhood seminar that i went to when delaney was just a few months old, and God has used this to refresh my spirit. i came across the passage above.

"there are no possibilities greater, and in no other sphere does failure bring more {serious} penalties." like death. spiritual death. this IS serious. i need to be on my knees, daily, sometimes hourly, praying. praying for my childrens' eternal souls. praying for myself as a mother, and for conviction and diligence in that God given role. "to attempt this task, unprepared and untrained is {tragic}, and it's results affect {generations to come}." how i choose to mother my children, will affect how they choose to mother theirs. that's big. i want my children to be able to take my example and apply it to their own kids, not have to consciously choose to train them differently then they were trained.

so, though this seems maybe like a downer post....really i am uplifted. i am thankful for this {exhortation} from God. i am thankful that God has made this heavy on my heart. it needs to be. always. and i want to encourage the mom's reading this post too! there is {no nobler career} than that of motherhood at it's best! let's get to mothering at our best. let's prepare ourselves and learn from the Master-Sculptor Himself. let's be on our knees, and allow our children to see us on our knees.

being a mom is not something that we can do, or should attempt to do on our own. but i praise our Father for His sovereignty. He is not out of control, He knows my needs, and He will meet them whilst teaching me to meet the needs of my children.

{warning nudity} baby nudity that is!

So today Amelia had an {explosion} in her diaper. I had to strip her naked and give her a bath due to the amount of poo on her...
So i decided that while i'm getting her bath ready that she could do some tummy time.
Usually she's so {lazy} about tummy time that she just co
ntently lays her cheek on the floor.
{but not today!}
check out this video! {ignore the silly momma voice}

And here's a cute picture of the {proud} baby in the bath.

Pumpkin Patch

Today we went with some friends to a pumpkin patch. The hope was to get some good photo's of the girls, pet some animals, and enjoy the sunny day.

Well, we accomplished petting some animals (Delaney was thrilled to see a real live bunny), and we for sure enjoyed the sunny day. Getting the good photo's...well.

okay.

My good friend hannah was the photographer and bless her heart, a two year old is not easy or fun to photograph. She did get some really sweet candid photos of us and a few great family photos.

One of my favorite parts about the day was Delaney experiencing all the real live animals that we talk about daily. So was just so excited to see them. It makes me appreciate her innocence. She is in awe of God's creation, from the ugly fat pot belly pig, to the pumpkin and corn husk. I wan't to be more in awe of God's creation.

Anyway, here are some of the great candid shots that hannah got. And of delaney being excited over the pigs and bunny.

Leonard and Robert

My girls both received a special gift from the Daddy when they were born.
Delaney received Leonard the Elephant.
Amelia received Robert the Swan.

Sweet Friendships

My girls are lucky. They were both born into friendships. Delaney's and her friend Gentry have had a little bit of a roller coaster relationship....for a while there they didn't get a long well, but now they have so much fun when they play together!

And Amelia has a couple of friends that she's just getting to know, Clara (far right) and Abilene (far left).

I pray that these friendships blossom and that my girls will cherish them as they grow!

Though the mountains be shaken...

You know how sometimes when you read the Word, you come across scripture that seems totally brand new, and absolutely meant specifically for you? Well, i had that experience with this little piece of scripture:

Isaiah 54:10

-"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD who has compassion on you.-

I mean, wow, huh? I have known the Lord for a good portion of my life and there have for sure been times that if i were God, i would totally give up on me.

And yet.

God's unfailing love will not be shaken. Imagine, sin so deep, so ugly, that it shakes mountains and removes hills.

And yet.

God's covenant of peace shall not be removed. I don't deserve this.

I PRAISE my sweet Savior that He has compassion on me. I've decided to commit this verse to memory (i should do this more often). So if you see me anytime soon....feel free to ask me what Isaiah 54:10 has to say about our compassionate Father. And let it sink into your heart too.

Chalk Board Green...

So this is my chalk board green wall.....

the photo doesn't really show the true colors, except for the chalk board green wall, that one is pretty accurate.
the other wall is the really nice soft olive green color (can you tell that's the color i picked?).

as much as i dislike the chalk board (hey! maybe this will be our home school room one day! haha!) i do love my new duvet cover.

so...

what do you think?

Here I go, joining the crowd over here at blogger.com

Hello! So here i am, now on blogger. Basically i'm just gonna be posting little snippets from here in the Egger household. Not sure how committed i'll be....but check back ever now and then and see if there is something new! Enjoy this sweet picture of me and my girls.
